The Canyon 30 area is underlain by Lower Permian limestone of the Stikine Assemblage.

Of the 12 samples collected from the Canyon 30 claim by Homestake only one sample (31489) yielded any interesting precious metal values. The sample was taken form a rusty weathering, sheared limestone containing a trace of pyrite and pyrrhotite. The sample assayed 0.560 grams per tonne gold and 2 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 19075).

In 1989 by Homestake Mineral Development Company and Equity Silver Mines Ltd held the Canyon 30. The work program consisted of rock sampling, stream sediment sampling, heavy mineral sampling and prospecting (Assessment Report 19075).
